"The greatest compliment I can give any musician is that they sound uniquely like themselves; that there is a unifying sound and feeling to their compositions and playing that could only come from them. Lawrence Blatt is certainly a guitarist and composer in that rare group. Graceful melodies and flowing grooves seem to come to him with ease. On Longitudes and Latitudes, he has established an impressive body of compositions that only seem to become more compelling emotionally and ever more accessible with time and maturity... "
-- Will Ackerman, 2016
longitudes & latitudes
Upbeat International guitar & instrumentals
"Longitudes & Latitudes was 5 years in the making. From cover art to the musical tracks that you are about to hear makes that wait so worthwhile. With his prior recordings being somewhat of a mellow affair, though this element is present here, it is not the emphasis. Frankly, Blatt has put no limiters on his explorations with the musical theme being somewhat more upbeat and energetic and of course very international. This is most distinguishable on the flamenco influenced “Noches De Barcelona”. That said the energetic theme begins immediately with the opening track “Two Shades of Sunshine” where Blatt’s guitar work merges with Premik Russell Tubbs’ smokin’ alto saxophone work." - Michael Debbage

emergence
Ensemble & solo guitar
For this album, Lawrence composed and arranged all the compositions, as well as played all of the guitar parts and several other instruments including acoustic bass, mandolin and accordion. "Emergence" was produced by the Grammy winning producer and founder of Windham Hill Records, Will Ackerman, and includes a number of Will's A-list studio musicians. Some of the songs on the album are ensemble pieces, while others are solo guitar. However, solo pieces can often sound like more than one instrument due to Lawrence's technique of featuring subtle counter-melodies, rhythmic interplays or even multiple parts played simultaneously on one guitar (lead, rhythm and bass at the same time, for example).
The color of sunshine
produced by will ackerman
Lawrence Blatt, explores the natural relationship between colors, sounds and moods on his third recording, The Color of Sunshine. After two self-produced solo guitar albums, Blatt stretches his sound on his latest CD to include other musicians as well as production by legendary guitarist William Ackerman.
The basic concept of The Color of Sunshine is that both light/color and sound/pitch are a function of vibrating waves that are similar and related. Moreover, music and moods are often described using the metaphor of color, as in the passion and intensity of being red hot, or the melancholy feeling of the blues. Given this natural relationship, he used colors as the inspiration for different moods and emotions on an entire album.
Fibonacci's Dream
Guitar, bass & percussion
Fibonacci's Dream takes you on a journey of music and math and contains 13 original compositions that span from solo acoustic guitar works to richly layered multi-track instrumentals. In addition to guitar, bass and percussion instruments, Lawrence utilizes some unusual stringed-instruments on this album including a charango, ronroco and a 100-year-old Ditson mandolin.
Out of the Woodwork
Finger-style guitar debut
Out of the Woodwork is Lawrence Blatt's debut album that has gained critical acclaim. The album takes you on a melodic journey of original compositions, written for acoustic finger-style guitar that can relax the mind, body and soul. Lawrence Blatt won an international radio LifeStyle Music Award and was named Best New Artist by New Age Reporter (NAR) for his debut CD, the Top 10 airplay Out of the Woodwork.
Promise
the 2nd album by flow
Promise is the sophomore release from New Age Supergroup Flow. Recorded over the summer of 2019 at Imaginary Road Studios, Promise was once again produced by Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton. The band toured the U.S. in support of Promise, headlining the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall for the third time.
“Last Light” is a true FLOW creation. I brought the idea of it to the group, and as we played and improvised, it got completely deconstructed. Actually, all of the new songs sound like us, but FLOW has evolved to the point where the next album will sound significantly different from our debut.” – Lawrence Blatt
FLOW
The debut release by flow
FLOW (Will Ackerman, Fiona Joy, Lawrence Blatt and Jeff Oster) present a fresh, international, acoustic new age sound for a modern world; graceful atmospheric music with a rhythmic ease that transports the listener as each of the eleven sublime tracks melt into the next.
Forty years ago, guitarist/producer Will Ackerman founded Windham Hill, which became a global music phenomenon, with its bountiful legacy of best-selling solo works (George Winston, Liz Story, Alex DeGrassi, Michael Hedges) and award-winning groups like Shadowfax. That magic extends into a truly new age with FLOW, a four-piece ensemble comprised of Grammy-winning guitarist Will Ackerman, and three of today s most acclaimed independent award-winning artists, Australian pianist Fiona Joy, acoustic guitarist Lawrence Blatt and flugelhorn master Jeff Oster.
Recorded, mixed and mastered at Ackerman s Imaginary Road Studios.
